Laptops of this size take the idea to extremes as few of us have laps big enough to hold one. This is basically a lugable computer not suited for use on trains, on aircraft, or in airports. But what you get is a big screen, a full size keyboard with a number pad and a very good touchpad. Windows 7 professional is a great operating system and would be easy to adapt to from either Vista or XP and it will run XP programs. The CPU is an Intel Core i5 and quite fast enough for all purposes as far as I can tell. There are 4 GB of RAM and a 500GB hard disk which is pretty much the norm now. It is easy to set up.
Mine won't travel much at all but used in conjunction with Office Word or Excel the bigger screen makes it much more relaxing and the Wi-Fi is excellent so if I was travelling the country by car and staying in hotels this is the machine I'd take with me. Frankly it may not be cheap but the next model up just has the i7 chip and I doubt that upgrade is worth paying for.
The downsides are that it only has three USB sockets when I can always use four and I found the DVD drawer difficult to open on my model. I've learned the technique now but I did have to learn it. The keys do not have a lot of travel, mind the machine is very thin, and the markings are white on black and may well be dulled by 'finger poo' after a few months of use.
Would I buy one again? Yes I would just for the screen if nothing else coupled with the fast CPU and good memory. Of course when work is over it makes a great player for DVD movies which you can sit back and watch in comfort.
